Researchers designed the study to assess the effectiveness of three different treatment options - one group drank 50 ml of Cranberry-Lingonberry juice concentrate daily for six months, the second group drank 100 ml of lactobacillus drink five days a week for one year, and the third group was a placebo and had no intervention.
It was an open, randomized controlled study consisting of 150 women suffering from UTIs caused by Escherichia coli. Participants were randomly assigned to the various groups.
The Results Of The Clinical Study
The results found differed among the three randomized groups. The cumulative rate of the first recurrence of urinary tract infection during the 12 month follow up differed significantly between the groups. At six months, 8 women in the Cranberry/Lingonberry group, 19 in the lactobacillus group, and 18 in the control group had had at least one recurrence. This is a 20% reduction in absolute risk in the Cranberry/Lingonberry group compared with the control group.
In summary, drinking Cranberry AND Lingonberry juice seems to reduce the recurrence of urinary tract infections.

Lingonberry
Lingonberries (also called Cowberries) are close cousins with Cranberries and considered a real superfood. They offer a natural source of A-type proanthocyanidins (PACs), as in Cranberries. D-Mannose
D-Mannose is beneficial when treating infections in the bladder and urinary tract.
